Upstream are excited to offer a grant opportunity to MEF members to access solar for their commercial property to a value of $5000.

2. The Upstream Team will assess your eligibility and, in conjunction with MEFSC, down-select the successful applicant.

What’s Involved?

There are two options in this grant. The option will take into account the successful applicant's needs and preference.

 Option 1: A fully installed solar system to the value of $5000.

•  Upstream will fully fund and manage the install.

• Upon completion the system is given to the successful applicant, along with all manuals and warranty details.

• Maintenance and insurance of the asset is applicants responsibility from there on.

 Option 2: $5000 worth of discount for electricity under a commercial solar PPA package.

• Successful applicant will enter into an agreed PPA with Upstream

• Upstream will fully fund and manage the install.

• Upstream is responsible for the asset including all maintenance, insurance and monitoring.

• A $5000 discount will be applied to their energy bill for the consumed energy from the system. After the discount is redeemed the successful applicant will begin to receive a monthly energy bill for the consumed power from the system (At a discounted rate compared to their current grid rate)

• Once the term is up, we hand over the asset in working order at nil cost. 

How much do I need to invest up front?

Nothing but a little bit of your time. You don’t need to pay anything up front, and we do all of the installation coordination. We’ll need agreement from landlord and tenant, along with building access on the install day.  

What does it mean for my ongoing energy bills?

 Option 1: You will be generating day-time energy for free, how much you save depends on your consumption and if the grid is required to top up your energy.

 Option 2: It will vary a bit between businesses, but ultimately, while the panels are generating, we generally see a discount between 20%-30% less than your current day-time energy rates.

 You most likely (depending on agreement) will receive 2 energy bills. One from us, and one from the grid energy consumed outside of solar generation.  

What happens to the asset at the end of the contract?

It is handed over in working order at nil cost to the PPA holder.
